WiGG has already secured and utilized a Neighborhood Partner Program city grant and are going through the process of being awarded a California Urban and Community Forestry "Green Trees for the Golden State" grant. These matching grant monies are to be used to open the old filled-in curb cuts, cut new openings, and plant 200 trees along the entire Anaheim Street corridor. Planting of these trees will create a more pleasant ambiance, provide shade, clean our pollutted air, and will make the street more inviting.

This undertaking will be executed in several smaller plantings with community volunteers, youth groups and local businesses. The first successful planting took place on May 2, 2009. The remaining plantings will commence once the state grant is awarded and the money is released. The whole project will take place over a three year period with plantings occuring in the fall, winter and spring.
